"Artists on Artists," is the first in a series of talks hosted by the new Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, SEArts, in Gloucester.
The event features filmmakers Sarah Green and Henry Ferrini discussing their work Thursday at Dancers Courageous Studio in Gloucester.
An exhibit in an adjoining gallery features mixed media works by eight Cape Ann artists.
Green of Gloucester is an independent producer of feature films including "Frida," "Girlfight," "Passion Fish," "The Secret of Roan Inish," "State and Main," "The Spanish Prisoner," and "American Buffalo."
Ferrini, also of Gloucester, is an independent filmmaker specializing in documentaries.
His most recent film, "Lowell Blues," won the Grand Festival Award in the 2001 Berkeley Film Festival and has been shown at more than 20 film festivals around the world.
Green and Ferrini discuss their films, the creative process, and the business of filmmaking.
The art exhibit, "Abstraction on Cape Ann" includes the work of Shep Abbott, Joanne Castano, Judith Ann Cooper, Gordon Goetteman, Paul Cary Goldberg, Michelle Miller, Ruth Mordecai, and Veronica Morgan.
SEArts is a nonprofit coalition of artists, cultural organizations, members of the business community, and local government.
The art exhibit opening runs from 5-7 p.m., the talk on film from 7-9 p.m., at 2 Main St. Admission is free. Call 978-282-5480.
