Why join seARTS?
Here are some of the reasons to join us, but as we are mostly a volunteer organization, we advocate that you get involved and you will get the most out of your membership.

Arts & Cultural Advocacy & Community Outreach

  • seARTS plays a vital role in acting as voice for the arts and cultural community to local and state governmental agencies as well as groups such as MAASH, the Mass Cultural Council, NEFA, and others who need local support to continue to raise awareness and funds for the arts both locally and nationally. seARTS also plays a key role in bringing together local arts and cultural organizations on common issues and opportunities such as measuring the impact of arts and culture on the local economy.

Access to Grants:

  • seARTS  has offered grants  to its cultural partners  who have been part of the Adams Grant application matching grant program.  Those partners included Rocky Neck Art Colony, Cape Ann Artisans, Gloucester Committee for the Arts and Gloucester New Arts Festival .   In 2009, 5720 was distributed to these organizations.  In 2008  $11,000 was distributed .

  • seARTS offers direct-to-artist grants through the Partner with An Artist Program for themed and site-specific work.  In 2008, $9,000 in grants was distributed directly to local artists who participated in this program.   The 2010 program will be announced in the Spring.

Marketing & Promotion:

  • Listing and Link to your website from the seARTS website member listings pages seARTS is a highly visible website, and key source for cultural information for Cape Ann for the community and visitors to the area.

  • Email “news” Blasts - timely & widespread publicity for your individual and organization’s exhibits or performances through Email “news” Blasts - seARTS e-blasts reach nearly 1000 people by e-mail every week

  • Calendar Listings online. This self-service tool is available 24 hours a day for seARTS members through our technology partner Meerkat. Members are able to go online and enter information on their upcoming events whether they are free or require a ticket.

  • Online Ticketing: Also through Meerkat, seARTS offers any of its members a way to sell tickets to its programs online in connection with the Calendar listing service.

  • Public Relations: seARTS has a unique relationship with the local media. As the “voice of the arts” on Cape Ann, seARTS events & programs are well-covered in local media and selected regional media. Grant recipients also receive additional media coverage through seARTS Public Relations efforts.

  • Share Marketing Resources with regional partners: seARTS often receives opportunities through the Cape Ann Chamber and North of Boston CVB to offer unique marketing & sales opportunities to its members. These can be explored upon request and are often promoted via the e-blast.

Networking:

  • Peer-to-peer interaction with artists from different genres and media - meet new colleagues, utilize your artistic talents and feed your interests.

  • Special Interest Groups – such as the Wearable Arts/Jewelers, Musicians, and others who have organized under the seARTS umbrella. Such groups have designed shows and fundraisers to sell their work and/or to raise money for seARTS and other non-profit groups. These events receive high media visibility due to their connection to seARTS.

  • Local & Regional Businesses: Interaction with local businesses through seARTS business sponsors and its relationship with the Cape Ann Chamber and North of Boston Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, and specific programs such as Partner with an Artist which match up businesses and artists for unique art installations.

Programs:

  • seARTS lectures, workshops, films, and other programs –free or discounted admission.

  • Opportunities to participate in planning, developing, and producing arts and cultural programming.

  • Selected membership benefits through Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and the North of Boston Convention & Visitor's Bureau to participate in their programs such as North of Boston Escapes North the Cape Ann Chamber’s Sidewalk Days

  • Art Loan Programs – As seARTS is a virtual organization, we are always on the look out for new opportunities to facilitate showcases for local artists. The relationship with Bass Rocks Golf Club is one example of such a program. Other innovative “art” venues in the past have included local businesses (Arts-Biz progam); Cape Ann TV; and Cruiseport Gloucester.

seARTS also provides these important services to its members:

Fiscal Agency – seARTS has acted as a fiscal agent for qualified cultural organizations and individual artists on Cape Ann who are seeking 5013-C status or need a non-profit status for a one time grant application.

Workshops/Education – through its programming efforts, seARTS seeks to find opportunities to help its members make a living as an artist. Workshops vary according to member interest. Past workshops have been held on the topics of Public Relations; Photography of Artwork, etc.
