Who:
Barbara Zeles brings her experience as a dancer
and Massage Therapist to inform the visceral quality of her sculpture.
"As I loop the copper wire between my fingers, I think of lives
being strung together, how loosely conversation intertwines, how
easily it falls apart." Exhibitions include a 2002 solo show
at Mount Ida College, BFAnnex, the Drawing Project at Bernard Toale
Gallery, Brandeis University, Revolving Museum, Art Complex Museum,
Phillips Exeter Academy, and University of Pennsylvania. Barbara
received her BFA from Boston University. She teaches figurative
drawing and sculpture at Arlington Center for the Arts and has a
studio at Waltham Mills Artists Association.
As a process artist Yhanna Coffin explores images
that arise through her body. In her words: “Remain true to
the impulse, let it create a form you've never seen.”
Where this image live is one of her questions. She began her artistic
life as a functional potter. After 10 years she moved into sculpture
and attended the Boston Museum School and Hunter College in NYC
where she received her MFA in sculpture. Color and the directness
and immediacy of the medium called her into painting for the last
20 years. She has shown in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia.
